Mary, Star of the Sea has been a vital part of the Catholic community in East Honolulu for generations. Thanks to the creation of a dedicated parish endowment, the church and school now have a permanent source of support to sustain their ministries, programs, and facilities well into the future.
Supporting the Parish, Securing the Future
Established with $16.1 million from the historic Kāhala Nui land sale, the Mary, Star of the Sea Parish Endowment replaces the lease income the parish previously received and creates a permanent stream of funding. This ensures that the parish can continue serving its community with stability and confidence.
The endowment also protects the legacy of improvements made during Kāhala Nui’s lease of diocesan land, including a fully enclosed gymnasium, a new rectory with meeting spaces, and a state-of-the-art Early Learning Center. With this lasting foundation, Mary, Star of the Sea will remain a vibrant spiritual home for today’s faithful and for generations to come.
